Job Title: Handyman
Type: Field Operations
Pay: $20/hour with benefits and performance bonus
Working hours: 9AM to 6PM Monday-Saturday (Chicago time)
Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Handyman to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks at our Section 8 properties in South Side Chicago. The Handyman will be responsible for addressing tenant maintenance requests, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring that properties are in compliance with Section 8 regulations. This role is essential to maintaining our properties’ integrity and tenant satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform various maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance.
- Tenant Maintenance Requests: Respond promptly to tenant maintenance requests, assess the issues, and resolve them efficiently and effectively.
- Routine Inspections: Conduct routine property inspections to identify maintenance needs and address them proactively.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance and repairs are carried out in compliance with Section 8 regulations and safety standards.
- Emergency Response: Be available for after-hours and emergency maintenance calls when necessary.
- Supply Management: Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance and repair supplies and equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including expenses and time spent on each task.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with tenants, property management, and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of handyman experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills
